We’ve all heard it. We’ve all felt it. We’ve all said it. “I’m too scared to share my faith.” This fear is among many believers in the church today that has consumed us and prevented us from sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to others for years. No matter how good our intentions may be, it is so easy for us to get consumed with fear and “chicken out” of sharing.
It seems like such a silly thing. Especially considering how many people have and still are risking their lives for this Good News all around the world. Why am I any different? Am I not doing the right things? Why am I so afraid to talk to my coworker about my faith in a safe and religiously free country, when others will eagerly do it in the most dangerous areas of the world?
Let this scripture from 1 Peter be an encouragement to you. “If you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed.” We forget this too often. That through our efforts of sharing the Gospel, God eagerly wants to bless us! That may not be a blessing that we receive here on earth, but it very well could be a blessing that we receive in eternity with our Lord. I don’t know about you, but when I die, I want to hear God say to me, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
This week, let the perfect love of Jesus Christ cast out the fear that has been holding you for too long. Because God desperately wants to use you for His mission. Are you ready?
Today in Prayer
- Pray for our missionaries who are taking the Gospel to the nations.
- Pray for unreached people right here in our backyard.
“The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become.” ― Henry Martyn
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
(Romans 10:14-15 ESV)
